The information technology director is responsible for the overall planning, organizing, management and execution of all IT functions including new technology projects. The director proactively implements, manages and maintains a global IT infrastructure to meet the Association’s essential and strategic business needs, and maintain a high level of operational effectiveness. The director manages IT staff ensuring highest customer satisfaction, customer adoption and proficiency on required technologies. The position requires dynamic and proactive collaboration with all staff and membership to analyze and anticipate needs, identify solutions and manage vendors, and consultants. In addition to staff workplace solutions (computers, servers, email, workplace software, wireless, etc.) the director will be responsible for business solutions involving AMS, the web, e-commerce, and outward-facing technology solutions. The director participates in planning for growth and aligning IT/IS activities with stated goals and the strategic plan.
The core functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Implements and maintains continuity of a high functioning and effective global IT infrastructure.
Maintains consistent communication with the COO and other staff members to ensure the quality and efficacy of technology programs and services.
Effectively and proactively collaborates with staff at all levels of the organization to devise and implement solutions for highest operational effectiveness.
Stays current on technology trends. Identifies technologies that can innovate and transform the Association’s information systems and assists management in developing short and long-range IT plans, goals, objectives, etc. Recommends changes or modifications to various systems and recommends new system enhancements designs and procedures.
Assess new opportunities. Analyze and documents requirements utilizing in-depth technical knowledge. Manage team of consultants which may include programmers, developers, and analysts. Prepare proposals and review estimates, signs off on all business requirements prior to technical solution.
Manages AdvaMed’s portfolio of active IT projects and programs to ensure technology and resource capabilities and capacity can adequately fulfill business needs. Oversees all phases of projects from conception to completion. Ensures projects are completed within budget and on time. Develop project tracking and variance reports. Develops work-breakdown structures. Creates project documentation. Liaises with key stakeholders ensuring they understand the timeline and deliverables and are provided appropriate updates.
Provides leadership, coaching, and direction to the IT staff managing the day-to-day operation, including annual reviews and goals. Conducts interviews and makes recommendations for new hires, consultants, and/or replacement personnel.
Manages annual IT budget. Responsible for maintaining vendor contracts and relationships with a focus on ensuring vendors are meeting terms of contract through the review of vendor work. Analyzes contract support and maintenance agreements to ensure contracted services are efficiently deployed. Participates on all hardware and software evaluations.
Manages vendor performance.
Ensures staff adoption and proficiency in essential business technologies. Provides or arranges for AdvaMed and IT staff training as needed in the effective use of the AdvaMed business systems. Develops user guides and other helpful materials to assist staff in effectively doing their jobs. Works to improve computer literacy within the user community to enhance their knowledge and use of information technology equipment, systems and applications.
Cross-trains key functions with support and AMS Administrator to ensure business continuity during absences.Assembles risk management plans and work effort documents. Provides risk assessment, ensuring AdvaMed’s assets are protected and potential issues have been flagged. Ensures the survivability and recovery of the association’s data through an AdvaMed Business Recovery plan and backup and recovery processes. Updates this document as relative changes are employed in the AdvaMed environment.

Ability to facilitate and document business requirements and create compelling business cases for possible projects and facilitate decision making in the prioritization of possible projects.
Technical writing skills, as well as workflow process documentation.
Ability to influence when not part of the direct chain of command.
Minimum Education Required: Bachelor's degree in CS or technical field, r equivalent work experience. Experience in professional business environment. PMP preferred.
Minimum Experience Required: 6+ years IT experience, 3+ years of experience with e-commerce and web projects; 3+ years of managing teams. 3+ years in managing Cloud services and providers (AWS, Salesforce, Azure)
