NACS, the association representing the convenience and fuels retailing industry, seeks an Writer-Editor to generate and strategize content across multiple print and digital platforms.
The Writer-Editor guides the content, consistency and editing of the award-winning NACS Dailye-newsletter and contributes to other NACS Media platforms, including NACS Magazine, Convenience.org and social media. The Writer-Editoris also part of a small but growing, dynamic content team that develops and executes org-wide content strategy by working closely with marketing, education, public relations and government relations departments. This position reports to the Editor in Chief, NACS Media Group.
Our ideal candidate is someone who instinctively dives headfirst into issues and loves to craft content for a variety of platforms. In addition to reporting on industry news and trends, we explore how current events affect our readers’ businesses. In the past year, our team has produced content on topics such as the recovery efforts after Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria; the #MeToo movement; and Generation Z.

NACS Daily e-newsletter
Work with freelancers to plan content for NACS Dailyand incorporates news and information from stakeholders across the association, including Government Relations and Marketing.
Edit news and coordinate proofing, posting and changes.
Stay current with industry issues and breaking news.
Track engagement metrics, most popular stories and circulation.
Collaborate with internal editorial team on content and external design firm on content, cover and art design.
Assist in editing and proofreading.
Help research, launch and implement initiatives for expanding digital/online presence of magazine.
Write short-bite editorial content for the regularly running departments of NACS Magazine: NACS News, Member News, Back Page, C.org.
Write and promote NACS content through social channels and/or with social campaigns and track key metrics.
Collaborate with web content manager to plan and post organization-wide content at www.convenience.org.
Research and implement new opportunities for expansion of content into podcasting, video and other technologies.
Participate in Web Strategy Team meetings.
Attend NACS events with the goal of developing content ideas and building relationships with members.
Provide spot coverage from NACS events by generating content for NACS communications vehicles, both print and digital.
Assist editorially with other content-driven projects.
Assist in developing and maintaining editorial metrics for print and digital media platforms.
Explore and launch content marketing opportunities.
Ability to discover and report on topics of interest to the convenience store industry, including political, retail and research topics
Fluency in all major social media platforms, including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn; demonstrated experience with Google Analytics and dashboards such as Hootsuite. SEO knowledge a plus.
Self-motivated and able to work without a lot of oversight
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teams
Excellent organizational, time management, communication and writing skills
