AMPED Association Management is a full-service association management firm, handling all aspects of associations with the care and expertise members expect. We are the headquarters for state, national and international trade, professional, medical and scientific nonprofit associations with offices on the Capitol Square in Madison, WI off King Street, two blocks from the Potomac, in Old Town Alexandria, VA and in downtown Glenwood Springs, CO—right in the Rocky Mountains.
We are searching for an individual to serve as Chief Executive Officer for one of our client associations—the Association of Equipment Management Professionals (AEMP). AEMP is a 501(c)6 society founded in 1982 to represent those who manage heavy, off road equipment assets by providing a forum for personal and professional growth through education and certification. The AEMP annual budget is approximately $1.5MM and is positioned for substantial future growth.
This position will be employed by AMPED Association Management and report to Lynda J. Patterson, FASAE, CAE, AMPED President/Owner. As an Account Executive within AMPED, this position will serve as Chief Executive Officer of the Association of Equipment Management Professionals (AEMP) and take direction from the AEMP Board.
The AEMP CEO will focus on, and demonstrate a mastery of:
Good governance practices for the AEMP leadership team which includes the Executive Committee, Board of Directors, Standing Committees and Work Groups, and Staff.
Good strategic management practices for the AEMP Leadership Team.
Measurable leadership skills.
Organizational administration, including HR, technology, and Legal/Risk Management.
Membership development, including member engagement and recruitment and retention programming.
Knowledge management research.
Effectively leading a staff in the deployment of best practices in the marketing, public relations, and communications.
Effectively leading a staff in the deployment of best practices in programming, products and services, including but not limited to conferences, certification programs, and professional development.
For the past 20 years, AEMP was well-led by its CEO, who will retire On December 31, 2018. The successor will be selected by the retiring CEO of AEMP, the president of AMPED, and a four-member transition team made up of executive leadership from AEMP. The successful candidate will begin their tenure as CEO on January 2, 2019, with the retiring CEO assisting in the transition in an Emeritus status to advise the new CEO until June 30, 2019.

Initial phone interviews will occur approximately September 1-10, 2018, and, if selected as a finalist, the candidate will be flown to Columbus, OH for an interview with the transition team the week of October 22. The transition team expects to make an offer no later than November 1, 2018.
A minimum of three years of senior leadership in an association or equivalent experience, five years management experience in managing an association preferred.
Certified Association Executive (CAE) preferred.
Knowledge of the heavy equipment or construction industry preferred but not required.
Experience with successful strategic planning and implementation.
Proven track record in growing an organization.
Hands-on experience in financial management, including budget preparation, monitoring, analysis, and reporting.
Direct experience with program creation and management.
Demonstrated ability to grow membership or products and services.
Consensus builder who can create and maintain successful relationships across the industry and with AEMP leadership, staff, vendors, and other organization with whom AEMP has developed long standing relationships.
Knowledgeable of how technology is used in business, including social media and association management systems.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Ability to speak in public and to convey AEMPs Mission and Vision.
