Provide management and leadership to guide the planning, development and delivery of ASA governance activities consistent with ASA’s strategic plan and governing documents in collaboration with Director of Executive Office and Governance, governance staff, senior staff and physician leadership.
This position will support ASA leadership in aspects required for the successful execution of Executive Committee (EC), Administrative Council (AC), Board of Directors (BOD) and House of Delegates (HOD), and governance-related operations and projects. Duties include but are not limited to providing the day-to-day operational management to meet deadlines, monitoring long-range goals and projects, and providing expertise in managing tasks for the ASA leadership and the Director of Governance.
Primary Position Responsibilities:
Implement “best practices” and project management principles to streamline ASA operations, ensuring that tasks mandated by the Bylaws, Administrative Procedures and governing entities and Officers are accomplished in a timely and efficient manner and in accordance with ASA policy.
Interface with and support all levels of physician/member leadership (EC, AC, BOD, HOD, Sections, Divisions, Committees, Editorial Boards, Ad Hoc Committees, Components (delegates, speakers bureau), etc.
Collaborate with Director, CEO, President, President Elect and Strategic Planning Workgroup to support execution of ASA’s 3-year Strategic Plan and annual strategic planning review/update process. Provide support for and monitoring of ASA’s planning process including strategic plan tactics.
Manage the process of organizing the business and activities associated with the successful conduct of meetings of the House of Delegates and Board of Directors, including meeting schedules, elections, and reference/review committees. Oversee coordination of the schedule of ancillary meetings (caucuses, committees, etc.) and educational sessions that are held in conjunction with these meetings.
Manage audit trail follow-up for EC, AC, BOD and HOD actions with appropriate staff and member leadership.
Responsible for the support of officers.
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in a complex, member service and business-focused organization.
Previous supervisory experience required.
Project management experience preferred.
Prior association and/or parliamentary experience preferred; experience with governance and association executives/elected leaders a plus. CAE desirable.
