Association Management Center seeks a Manager of Quality Initiatives to add to our team. This role supports AMC's client, The American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM). Reporting to the Director of Quality & Research, the Manager of Quality Initiatives supports the advancement of AAHPM's quality and research goals, manages several grant-funded efforts, and provides program support to various quality initiatives.
AAHPM is dedicated to expanding access of patients and families to high quality palliative care, and advancing the discipline of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, through professional education and training, development of a specialist workforce, support for clinical practice standards, research and public policy. Since 1988, AAHPM has supported hospice and palliative medicine through advancement of clinical practice standards, fostering research, providing education, and through public policy advocacy. Membership includes over 5,000 physicians and other medical professionals.
Key responsibilities include:
Manage and coordinate projects related to measure development and quality improvement, including implementation activities and creation/dissemination of educational resources for members
Ensure quality and research efforts, including progress on the registries collaborative and other grant-funded projects, are well-coordinated and communicated across participants, AAHPM staff and members, leadership and funders
Manage select committees and working groups associated with Quality and Research projects including scheduling, agenda planning, notes, surveys and documentation, as needed
Work with subject matter experts to draft and submit comments on appropriate measures, guidelines, policies and papers
Work with co-workers and consultants to conduct research, compile data and create reports for staff, committee and project leaders related to AAHPM Quality and Research initiatives
Work with AAHPM members and external stakeholders on collaborative projects and to monitor the national quality landscape
Track project tasks and milestones with Project Leads, subject matter experts, and subrecipients associated with grant reporting requirements
Prepare quarterly summaries related to grant projects including tracking of subrecipients contributions and progress
Compile program statistics and synthesize research in support of funding requests. Analyze program evaluation components and draft reports on outcomes of projects.
Manage application, selection and communication associated with AAHPM Research Scholars Program. Coordinate nomination process of Academy leaders for selected national committees and work groups.
Maintain Academy files, documentation and web content related to Quality and Research initiatives
Support the Director of Quality and Research and Executive Director with other duties as assigned
Experience and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree required; Masters preferred
2-3 years of relevant experience in healthcare and quality programs (QI, quality measurement, etc.)
Project Management experience required
Working understanding and knowledge of the health care industry, federal regulation, private and academic practice environments, physician performance, quality improvement programs; grant writing process; and/or the development process for work products (clinical practice guidelines, quality measures, etc.)
Experience within a non-profit association (healthcare, medical specialty society) or academic setting; strong customer service and volunteer relations skills
Demonstrated analytical and research competencies
Strong writing and oral communication skills; ability to clearly communicate ideas and solutions
Ability to work as a part of a team and also individually with minimal supervision
Strong organizational skills; ability to forge effective cross-functional teams and working relationships, both internally and externally
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, project management software, database management, and e-survey tools
Ability to travel out of state and overnight approximately three times a year for client meetings
