Position Summary: This position is responsible for managing and developing educational programs with volunteers. Works in collaboration with internal and external subject matter experts to help identify and define content needs. Manages the program development process; from the initiation of the idea to speaker selection, to analysis of evaluation data.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists in the planning and organizing of educational programs to develop quality team-based learning resources for live meetings and online education.
Manages online education platform and creation of education programs.
Reviews online learning usage reports and provides recommendations.
Remains up-to-date with best practices in adult education and instructional technology.
Works closely with program development committee(s) in the development and evaluation of content.
Partners with the annual meeting program committee in the development and evaluation of content.
Manages the abstract database, including, but not limited to, abstract submission process, collation of abstracts for grading, notification to abstract authors of who has been selected, poster management and other duties as assigned.
Works with winter meeting course directors in the development and evaluation of content.
Assures all education programs are compliant with accreditation guidelines.
Maintains and ensures accuracy in accreditation files and records, including distribution of CE certificates.
Facilitates the transition of current face-to-face programs to blended or e-learning formats.
Assists with research as needed to measure the interest level and obtain information on curriculum development for new educational initiatives.
Collaborates with Meetings and Communications Department as needed for onsite logistics of face-to-face programs to support interactive learning formats and marketing content.
Creates evaluations for all meetings and distributes summaries and results
Performs other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree required or a combination of education and healthcare association experience.
Minimum of three years of experience in a position responsible for managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Current knowledge of and experience with web-based and other e-learning technologies.
Experience with managing adult education, professional development, and continuing education programs in a variety of formats/modes.
Experience with managing online learning and the administration of learning management systems (LMS).
Working knowledge of adult learning theories, instructional design, and curriculum development.
Reasoning, analysis, critical thinking, and language abilities (reading, technical writing, and speaking), with strong communication, writing, and presentation skills.
Proven technical acumen in planning, problem-solving and consensus building.
Ability to budget for and execute multiple projects against demanding timelines.

The Society of Gynecologic Oncology (SGO) is the premier medical specialty society for health care professionals trained in the comprehensive management of gynecologic cancers. As a 501(c)(6) organization, the SGO contributes to the advancement of women’s cancer care by encouraging research, providing education, raising standards of practice, advocating for patients and members and collaborating with other domestic and international organizations.
SGO has 2,000 members representing the entire gynecologic oncology team in the United States and abroad. Members include primarily gynecologic oncologists, as well as medical oncologists, pathologists, radiation oncologists, hematologists, surgical oncologists, obstetrician/gynecologists, nurses, physician assistants, social workers, fellows-in-training, residents and other allied health care professionals interested in the treatment and care of women’s cancer.
