Association focused on the protection of public health seeks a detailed-oriented, deadline-driven proofreader to help ensure the high quality of the organization’s publications and documents. Ideal candidate will have two to five years of experience proofreading, fact checking, and copyediting complex documents; excellent attention to and memory for detail; excellent grammatical, proofreading, and fact checking skills; as well as strong organizational skills and the ability to coordinate and meet multiple deadlines. Bachelors of Art degree in journalism, communications, or English required. College internships and work experience considered. Working knowledge of AMA style desirable. Internet skills and experience with Microsoft Office, in particular Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, required. Experience with database applications a plus. The proofreader accomplishes the following:
Proofs and fact checks documents, letters, memos, and presentations for all NABP departments to ensure that all outgoing documents adhere to NABP and AMA style, and are error-free and professional.
Fact checks documents to ensure content is accurate.
Proofs and fact checks articles for Innovations and other Association publications. Reviews layout before going to printer.
Proofs state newsletters.
Assists in proofing copy to be posted and currently on the NABP website.
Proofs and fact checks the Survey of Pharmacy Law, Proceedings, annual and fall meeting materials, public relations pieces, and other NABP publications to ensure accuracy and clarity. Proofs all Association documents to be released externally.
Assists with maintaining and updating the NABP Style Guide.
Assists with coordinating annual submission of documents to US Copyright Office and track progress of applications.
Researches and maintains mailing and e-mail lists and provides updates to the appropriate department. Updates contact information in e-Business as needed.
Compile weekly clipping report and analyze report to provide highlights of articles of particular interest to NABP management.
Implements Association policy as directed..
Bachelors of Art degree in journalism, communications, or English required.
