The American Trucking Associations (ATA), the nation’s leading trade and lobby association representing the trucking industry, is currently seeking a Regional Vice President of Membership for our North Eastern territory.
This position supports the Membership Management Department’s objectives of doubling membership, meeting retention goals and providing prompt, accurate and useful information to members, affiliates and staff by representing and promoting ATA membership and its value to existing and prospective members. This position interacts with ATA staff at all levels, ATA members and prospects, government personnel, the public, other organizations such as affiliates and industry groups, and various vendors and suppliers. This position has no supervisory or budgetary responsibilities.
The incumbent is expected to support the North East region of the United States and Canada; specific states/provinces include Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, and the Eastern provinces of Ontario.
BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS:
Education/ Relevant Experience - BS/BA Degree in Business Administration, marketing, sales or related field plus minimum 7 years of field sales experience with a proven record of meeting or exceeding sales goals required. Trucking/Transportation experience not required but a plus. An appropriate combination of education and experience may be substituted for degree.
Skill Requirements - Must be able to work with minimal supervision and perform multiple functions simultaneously. Incumbent must be comfortable planning independent travel schedule and hold excellent time management skills. Strong supervisory skills, proven strategic planning and implementation abilities required. Must possess superior verbal and written communication skills, the ability to conduct business in a variety of business and social settings, ability to work well with people and a diverse industry, ability to understand and effectively ascertain and communicate complex membership dues schedules, issues and “rules”. Must possess the innate ability to build relationships and make connections.
Professional Certification/Affiliations - Membership in professional group preferred, but not required.
