As part of ISTE’s executive leadership team, the Chief Membership and Partnership Officer (CMPO) is responsible for leading the vision, strategy and fulfillment of the ISTE membership program and the strategic relationships with our partner organizations. ISTE is a membership driven association of over 22,000 global educators who believe in the power of technology to transform teaching and learning, accelerate innovation and solve tough problems in education. The CMPO leads a team that is responsible for converting customers and prospects into dues paying members and retaining them by assuring high-value delivery of knowledge, services and community engagement. The CMPO also manages the relationship with ISTE’s Affiliates (partner organizations in almost every state and across the globe) to continually drive mutually-shared and measurable benefits including revenue generation..
Membership • Oversee delivery of high-quality member services in collaboration with other departments. • Analyze membership data and recommend program enhancements. • Support membership acquisition via school district partnerships, ISTE events, and through collaborations with other organizations. • Monitor member satisfaction, benefit fulfillment and excellent customer service. • Oversees management of member products including Empowered Learner Magazine, TED Master Class, Professional Learning Networks, Job Board, and Webinars. • Support international growth of ISTE membership.
Partnerships • Lead the evolution of ISTE’s Affiliate program to increase the value and create a self-sustaining business model. • Evaluate the effectiveness of existing partnerships and develop new partnerships in support of strategic goals. • Support the expansion of strategic partnerships outside of the US.
General • Develop strategic goals and key performance indicators to support membership objectives and ISTE’s organization-wide goals. • Identify opportunities to further extend the ISTE community beyond the US through customized membership/community models and collaborations with affiliated organizations. • Facilitate market research on ISTE-member needs to inform product development. • Develop, hire and manage the staff/consultants required to meet objectives within budget.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
• A Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred. • At least seven years of experience in a membership association or comparable customer engagement leadership role. • An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be acceptable. Also desired • Success in managing membership/customer satisfaction and performance management processes; financial management; and developing and inspiring team members to reach new levels of achievement. • Proven ability to develop mutually beneficial partnerships that include sufficient revenue to build and sustain mission delivery. • Strong acumen in analyzing data to spot trends, create innovative initiatives, measure effectiveness, and keep a pulse on changes in customer/prospect/member attitudes, preferences and engagement levels. • Ability to package and share data and feedback from the field to inform product and organization-wide strategy. • Proven ability to be a collaborative leader within a matrixed organizational structure. • Experience working in education and the educational technology market.
