The National Council of Structural Engineers Associations (NCSEA) mission statement is: NCSEA advances the practice of structural engineering by representing and strengthening its Member Organizations. To help fulfill this mission, NCSEA is seeking an Education Manager to support, further develop and enhance its highly-successful webinar and face-to-face conference education programs.
The Education Manager will serve as the point person for NCSEA’s education efforts. This position will help source speakers for both web-based and face-to-face education, while also scheduling and managing these events to ensure quality programming for our members. This position also will work closely with NCSEA’s continuing education committee to ensure quality speakers and technical and management information is delivered. As part of this work, the Education Manager will oversee NCSEA’s learning management software system that serves as the engine for its education program. In addition, the Education Manager will assist in the development of marketing and communications materials promoting NCSEA’s various education-related products. Looking to the future, NCSEA's Education Manager will lead the development of the next level of on-demand educational programming to be offered by the association.
For NCSEA’s regional groups, the Education Manager serves as a point person for our 44 state-level Member Organizations as they develop their own education programs. Included in this is management of NCSEA’s Diamond Review Program that helps ensure education is qualified to receive professional development hours in all 50 states of the U.S. This program includes working with outside education providers that wish to have their courses reviewed and Diamond Review approved.
The ideal past experience for a candidate will be within the education department of another association. NCSEA does not expect the Education Manager to have experience in structural engineering. The ideal skill set for this position would include strong communications skills, experience with learning management and association management software (LMS and AMS systems), previous event and conference education planning, and the ability to motivate, support and guide volunteer leadership.
NCSEA has 44 Member Organizations that represent more than 10,000 structural engineers across the U.S. The downtown Chicago-based NCSEA office is comprised of 6 full-time staff. NCSEA will be moving its office to the downtown loop area in Chicago (from its current Michigan Avenue location in River North) early in 2019.
