The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) is seeking a highly motivated, proactive individual to serve as Marketing and Communications Manager in its headquarters office in Alexandria, VA.
The Marketing and Communication Manager works collaboratively with other members of ACTFL staff to develop a strategic, multi-tiered marketing plan for ACTFL programs, products, and services.
Responsibilities include:
Develop marketing plan for the association detailing the needs of all departments with timelines and costs associated with the deliverables.
Plan, direct, or coordinate marketing policies and programs for the association.
Monitor trends that indicate the need for new marketing strategies.
Evaluate the effectiveness of marketing strategies established by each department.
Evaluate the financial aspects or return-on-investment for each marketing program.
Expand and develop marketing platforms including social media platforms.
Develop and manage internal marketing & communications calendar.
Consult on marketing decisions, including product launches and branding.
Enforce brand standards and guidelines.
Manage vendors related to marketing, communications and graphic design.
Review all marketing graphics and materials before print or web publication.
Implement and measure success of marketing campaigns.
Develop and manage internal marketing & communications calendar.
Write promotional copy for web, digital, and print materials, as well as press releases.
Work with Technology Manager to establish and maintain website content standards.
Write content for bi-weekly member e-newsletter; managing layout and dissemination. using ACTFL's bulk email system; creating and managing all other email copy, creation and designs.
Act as project manager for ACTFL’s book projects, including choosing vendors and subject matter/copy editors.
Manage ACTFL's social media accounts and enhancing organization's social media presence.
Manage Lead with Languages’ public awareness campaign social media strategy and accounts and enhancing the campaign’s social media presence.
Manage the work of a Communications Assistant.
Degree in marketing or a related field
3-5 years marketing/communications experience with a nonprofit/trade association
Proven experience in identifying target audiences and developing creative marketing campaigns that inspire, educate, and motivate
Experience managing multiple social media channels (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram) for an organization and/or public campaign
Solid knowledge of website analytics tools like Google Analytics or WebTrends
An appreciation for brand identity and love of great copy
Experience with Informz bulk email system and Adobe Photoshop preferred
