The Chief of Innovation & Engagement at AOTA is a key member of the executive management team, responsible for processes to drive innovation in products and services to members, prospective members and other stakeholders across the organization to effectively engage stakeholders with the organization to create member stakeholder value. The position engages staff at all levels throughout the organization in innovation and engagement processes and is a key supporter of cross-functional planning and implementation. This position is located at the AOTA headquarters in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
The Opportunities of this Position:
As the Chief of Innovation & Engagement at AOTA, you will take a lead in building new directions and capabilities for the occupational therapy profession and for AOTA. This is a new position with oversight of the innovation & engagement focus of AOTA, linking product and service development to needs of members, prospective members and other customers. It is also a position that will responsible for developing and continually nurturing an organizational mindset that embraces innovation and innovative thinking. This position also oversees member/customer strategy and engagement, strategic marketing and communications and annual conference.
The Responsibilities of this Position:
Establish processes for innovation that encourage input and involvement of other staff and volunteers and encourage others to generate ideas.
Establish and utilize approaches for anticipating and understanding member/stakeholder needs to support exploration of area for innovation and engagement.
Analyze trends and market disruptions to identify new market spaces.
Engage and support business units within AOTA involved in new product/service development.
Build and nurture a vibrant marketing function that incorporates strategic marketing integrated into innovation and product development.
Build and support an integrated strategic communications approach across the association.
Serves as a key partner to the staff leadership team and to the board in identifying strategic needs and opportunities and setting priorities.
Partner with the senior leadership team in strategic decision making and operations to enhance AOTA programming and build capacity.
Develops and coaches staff in effectively examining strategic directions to increase member/customer value and engagement and exploring programs and projects to address these needs.
Qualifications for this Position:
Solid experience and demonstrated success in driving growth in market share, revenue, and position.
Demonstrated ability to handle competing demands and to work across and integrate the work of multiple business units.
Proven experience in developing and supporting integrated strategic development and transforming strategy into operations.
Highly analytical and critical thinker with demonstrated success using data to drive decisions.
Ability to effectively manage cross-functional teams and to build synergy across organizational units to achieve success.
Demonstrated success in leading change, multi-year strategic planning, operational planning and implementation.
Demonstrated abilities to develop and coach staff and volunteers.
Masters degree in a related field.
Seasoned executive leader with demonstrated success in developing and leading design thinking, innovation, new product /service development and strategy and/or Association Management.
