The American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) has an immediate opening for a Managing Editor for the Journal of Prosthodontics.
The Managing Editor is responsible for the day-to-day management and peer-review of the Journal of Prosthodontics. S/he will work with the Editor-in-Chief (EIC), Associate EIC, and College staff and leadership to implement the current and future strategy of the journal.
The ACP Central Office is conveniently located in downtown Chicago, near Water Tower. Remote candidates will be considered for this position.
Day-to-day editorial and peer-review management functions for the Journal of Prosthodontics
Working closely with the Editors, the Managing Editor oversees the editorial activities, assists Associate Editors, manuscript reviewers, manuscript authors, and readers
Maintains and updates the web-based submission and review systems
Assists the Editors in assembling each issue of the Journal for publication
Addresses, communicates, and updates policies on Journal standards, procedures, and guidelines
Assists the Director, Finance & Administration with Journal budget preparation and monitoring
Liaises with the Editor-in-Chief and journal publisher to ensure a smooth publishing operation
Provides staff support to the editorial board
Works with the editors, College staff, and College leadership on new projects and strategic planning for the journals
Works with Communications & Public Relations Manager to promote Journal activities
Other duties as assigned
3+ years’ experience in an editorial management position in peer-reviewed scientific/medical publishing or academic publishing
Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, or relevant discipline required. Master’s degree and/or certification in publishing preferred
Knowledge of editorial processes and best practices
Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines
Strong understanding of computer software and web-based submission systems
Demonstrated record of consensus building skills working with volunteer leaders
Telecommuting is allowed.
