The Pennsylvania Dental Association (PDA) is a tripartite, voluntary professional organization that is a constituency of the American Dental Association (ADA), the largest and oldest national dental society in the world. PDA is one of 53 constituent/territorial societies of the American Dental Association and has approximately 5,000 member dentists throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. PDA is comprised of ten district components and 45 locals representing different geographic sections of the state. It is governed by 13 highly professional Board members, two of whom are non-voting members and a dedicated staff of 18 who work in the central office in Harrisburg.
Reporting to the President, Officers and the Board of Trustees, the Executive Director (ED) serves as chief executive officer and is responsible for administrative and personnel management, guidance with respect to best governance practices, communications and public relations, meetings and education programs, liaison relationships and advocacy. The ED will have the opportunity to execute the newly-approved strategic plan and guide a progressive future by building on a strong foundation. A renewed focus on innovation will result from intentional listening to the membership and targeting mission-focused efforts towards “added value” for all members.

The Pennsylvania Dental Association is a voluntary organization comprising approximately 5,000 member dentists (53% of Pennsylvania active licensed dentists are members). It is a constituency of the American Dental Association, the largest and oldest national dental society in the world.
The PDA was organized in 1868 to serve the public by promoting the art and science of dentistry. It works to maintain a dental health education program for citizens of Pennsylvania, to enlighten the public with respect to the prevention of oral disease and to improve the overall health of the public.
Some of the ways the PDA serves its membership include enhancing the image of dentistry in Pennsylvania, providing input to laws and regulations, offering continuing education and providing PDA members with competitive insurance.
Under its tripartite structure, when a dentist joins the Pennsylvania Dental Association he/she must also join the American Dental Association, the district and the local dental society. Members receive membership services and benefits from all levels.
The PDA has a wholly-owned for-profit subsidiary, Pennsylvania Dental Association Insurance Services, I...nc. (PDAIS). PDAIS is a full service insurance agency created in 1998 to sell competitively-priced, quality insurance products to PDA members, and to families and employees of PDA members.
In addition, the PDA also has a Foundation organized under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, a political action committee (PADPAC) and a Relief Fund.
