SUMMARY JOB DESCRIPTION
The Associate Director, Learning Design’s principal focus will be developing high-quality interactive learning experiences for in-person, online, and hybrid programs and courses for an executive level audience. Working closely with subject matter experts, content leads, analysts, media developers, and other stakeholders, the Associate Director, Learning Design will oversee all phases of program and course design using best practices from learning sciences, instructional design, learning technologies, and project management to deliver exceptional quality programs and courses.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct sessions with business and content leads and subject matter experts to develop learning strategies, course designs and outlines, and assignments for team members, and to determine content, designs and learning methods that meet both educational and business objectives
Develop design documentation and project plans to guide program development
Develop a learning architecture for on-demand library
Lead and manage projects through the design lifecycle from scoping, strategic planning, research and analysis, design, development, and launch; providing clear timelines through all phases, communicating with key partners, and selecting appropriate measurement for successful implementation
Conceptualize and design instructional materials in a variety of modalities (tutorials, digital interactives, user guides, audio and video content, storyboards, navigational text, assessment tests, etc.)
Play a major role in scripting and writing program and course content
Make recommendations regarding course design, technology, and instruction delivery options
Evaluate program performance (once launched) and optimize
Present and facilitate to groups of internal and external stakeholders
Manages vendor relationship
Performs other duties as assigned

Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in curriculum design, adult learning principles, and effective assessment strategies
Knowledge of digital learning tools and the ability to select teaching methods appropriate for industry and executive level audience
Creative and clear writer who produces writing that reflects the learners needs while giving them new insights
Ability to work effectively within an environment that sets high goals and is fast-paced
Ability to receive and incorporate feedback into course material from program leads, subject matter experts, students, and instructors
Knowledge of copyright and trademark rules for writing and delivering content and graphics
A bachelor’s degree in Business or Communications and a minimum of eight years of experience in education, curriculum design, instructional technology, instructional design or educational technology, distance education or a directly related field, or a relevant master’s degree and a minimum of five years of experience in a relevant field.
Must demonstrate ability to work independently as a self-starter as well as work as part of a team and collaboratively across the organization, handling multiple activities and priorities whilst meeting deadlines and maintaining utmost professionalism, organization, and extreme attention to detail. Must exhibit exceptional communication and interpersonal skill, and work effectively with internal/external customers, vendors and faculty. Must be able to handle confidential information in a professional manner.
Familiarity with graphic design elements appropriate for online instruction. Basic knowledge of streaming audio and video, compression methods, file types, and formats. Required: Experience with course authoring tools such as Articulate, Articulate Rise, or Captivate. Experience with web-based course management tools (LearnUpon Freestone, Blackboard, or other LMS) and online conferencing software (such as Zoom, Pathable, Freestone, or Adobe Connect). Knowledge of SCORM, TinCan and other standards for online course delivery is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Creative Suite and basic HTML editing is required.
