Position Description: The National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) is seeking a Membership Director that will be responsible for providing valuable customer service and coordination to membership through annual membership campaigns, timely communications to members on membership activities and invoices, coordinating effective meeting and events planning, and delivering quality membership services, reports and data management. The NACD Director of Membership manages a diverse portfolio in support of national conservation objectives and other duties as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide leadership, management and support of membership team to successfully develop and implement strategic membership programs and goals in close coordination with Chief Operating Officer (COO) and management team.
Support the association’s overall efforts to engage with NACD members.
Identify opportunities/outreach efforts and collaborate with colleagues to enhance member benefits and services and provide guidance to states/regions.
Timely maintenance and coordination of membership information in the NEON CRM System.
Manage the quarterly membership mailing, with the bigger mailing occurring at the beginning of the fiscal year, October 1.
Responsible for the accuracy and timely monthly reporting of membership revenue, as well as membership update reports to the Board of Directors.
Coordinate training on use and operation of the NEON CRM System.
Work with Region Representatives to keep informed about dues payment status of the conservation districts and state associations in their respective regions.
Manage the Friends of NACD program payments and mailing thank you letters and promotional giveaways.
Assist in planning and executing NACD conferences and events.
Responsible for Annual and Summer Meeting online and on-site meeting registration services.
Support the District Operations and Membership Services (DOMS) Committee as well as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Special Committee.
Carries out tasks of managing, coordinating and implementing grant-related activities pertaining to specific national grants and cooperative agreements.
Perform any and all related duties in coordination with the COO that advance the mission and purpose of NACD.
Supervise three full time FTEs.
Bachelor's degree in related field is required, advanced degree preferred.
Three to five years of related work experience.
Experienced in staff leadership and management.
Knowledge of NEON CRM system preferred but not required.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong membership and customer service skills.
Familiarity with member-based organizational structure with strong knowledge of conservation districts preferred.
Moderate travel is required.
Location: This position is located at NACD’s headquarters office in Washington, D.C. and reports to the Chief Operating Officer.
