The role of the Specialist, Business Development is to provide business development support across the organization. This includes but is not limited to supporting or leading business planning, competitive analyses, donor landscapes, corporate sponsorships, and institutional partnerships. This position also supports ASM's Corporate Council program and includes relationship management, events, and sponsorships.

Support business planning needs across departments at ASM aimed at revenue generation. This can include but is not limited to drafting business plans, conducting donor or corporate landscape analyses, supporting corporate sponsorship agreements and other institutional partnership agreements.
Support ASM's Corporate Council program. This can include but is not limited to outreach to new member prospects, relationship management with current members, sponsorship management, content support for events.
Draft and present summary documents reflecting activities, timelines, deliverables, risks, etc. for internal leadership and relevant staff.
Draft and present summary documents about ASM and relevant programs to external partners.
Review and negotiate partnership agreements.
Support and review documentation for grants and award submissions.

Physical Demands This is largely a sedentary role and may sit or use PC for long periods of time. Bending, reaching, or stooping may be necessary for use of filing cabinets or other office cabinets or office machines. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computer, phones, copiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Travel Requirements Up to 10% travel required
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree, in Business Administration or related field; Master’s Degree preferred.
Four (4) or more years’ experience negotiating partnerships, licenses, contracts, or other business development deals.
Experience with the corporate landscape of the microbiology industry.
