DIRECTOR OF MEMBERSHIP POSITION OVERVIEW The Director of Membership manages all functions related to Member Relations and works closely with Yale University to ensure positive alumni relations and engagement. The individual will identify and execute initiatives to identify and target the ideal Yale Club of New York City member, attract and retain said members, collect and analyze data in order to make fact-based strategic plans, and develop marketing campaigns to drive member and guest usage of Club services.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Competencies or Style Needs The new Director of Membership is expected to provide or possess the following:
Develop and execute successful and innovative membership recruitment and retention strategies that are based on collected and analyzed data.
Build, nurture and maintain positive rapport and relationships with Yale University alumni affairs and other mutually beneficial departments.
Analyze and streamline categories and fees of membership to best meet current and future needs of the Club.
Evaluate and determine profile for ideal prospective members to create targeted marketing campaigns and recruitment strategies.
Ensure the Club achieves its strategic and financial goals through membership recruitment, retention, and the marketing of its services and offerings.
Develop and manage the annual membership budget, meet membership revenue goals, and manage expenses.
Lead, develop, and mentor the Membership team as well as support the Marketing and Membership Committee.
Spearhead new member events for prospective members on property and at Yale University.
Coordinate with Membership peers to share best practices, key insights, and competitive intelligence, and coordinate on overall talent management.
Address member inquiries and concerns empathetically, quickly, and effectively, using strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Track, measure, and analyze all initiatives to report on ROI.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the General Manager and Chair of the Marketing and Membership Committee.
Possess a natural gravitas and engaging style, with a sincere desire to build relationships with members, cross-functional staff, Yale University, and others who contribute to the overall well-being and success of The Yale Club.
Supervise the membership team to include recruiting, developing, disciplining and performance.
Possess a keen and relevant understanding of modern social and club related trends that shape current and future recruitment and retention of members, implementing or ensuring that The Yale Club is viewed as a preferred destination and as a proactive leader in innovations, engagement, and satisfaction levels of members.
Work closely with events and food & beverage departments to ensure trends and issues are performed within a financial metric to maintain membership and engagement levels.
Embrace and appreciate the history of Yale University and The Yale Club; assist the General Manager in the preservation of the unique atmosphere of the Club while still recommending and implementing ways to modernize and move forward.
The Director of Membership must be an exceptional communicator, have adroit interpersonal skills and instinctively know how to make members, guests, team members, and key constituents at Yale University feel that they are treated in a gracious, professional, and sincere manner.
Must possess strong working knowledge of technology, electronic communications, and social media to be utilized in such areas such as mobile applications, member newsletters, and electronic updates, and have a proactive and curious nature to continue to evaluate potential new technologies to leverage high tech to improve high touch and outreach to potential members.
Participate in outside activities, events, or meetings, approved by the General Manager, that are deemed appropriate to enhance the image of the Club and broaden the scope of the Club’s operation in the community and at Yale University.
Able to influence key stakeholders, communicate concisely and articulately, demonstrate high-level of emotional intelligence (EQ).

EDUCATIONAL AND CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATIONS
A BS or BA degree (or equivalent) from an accredited college or university (preferably in business/marketing) is required.
An MBA (or applicable graduate degree) from an accredited college or university, is preferred.
Minimum of five (7) years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in a high-end member-based organization, non-profit, or university.
Minimum of (5) years’ experience managing high-performing teams.
Knowledge of CRM systems.
Technologically savvy; high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Fluency in Spanish a plus.
CLUB COVID REQUIREMENTS This club does require staff to be fully vaccinated as a provision of employment which is defined as receiving two shots in NYC.

THE YALE CLUB OF NEW YORK CITY
The Yale Club of New York City has over 11,000 members from around the world, including 2,500 who live and work in New York City. Its membership continues to evolve and reflect the values, traditions, and above all, love for the University. Its membership is restricted almost entirely to alumni and faculty of Yale University. Three other, smaller clubs also are in residence at the Yale Club: the Dartmouth Club, the Virginia Club, and the Delta Kappa Epsilon Club. The Club sits at 50 Vanderbilt Avenue, in the heart of midtown and literally steps away from Grand Central Station. The Clubhouse was designed by James Gamble Rogers and hailed for its dignified neoclassical design. Upon opening its doors in 1915, the building became the largest clubhouse in the world and continues to be the largest university clubhouse in existence today. The 22-story clubhouse offers a rich history of tradition, as well as an array of modern amenities enhanced by the recently completed $40 million capital investment program.
