The Council of Independent Colleges seeks a full-time Assistant to the Vice President of Academic Programs. This is a new position. The position will support the work of the Senior Vice President for Academic Programs and provide additional capacity for a variety of programs at CIC. The assistant to the SVPAP will work collaboratively with CIC staff and directors of academic programs and leadership programs.

About the Position
The Assistant reports to and supports the work of the Senior Vice President for
Academic Programs (SVPAP) who oversees a suite of programs, including CIC’s Chief Academic Officers Institute, Workshops for Department and Division Chairs, and Academic Seminars, the Executive Leadership Academy, the Senior Leadership Academy, and the Presidential Vocation and Institutional Mission program. The Senior VPAP also supervises Advancement. This position will coordinate with and support “senior advisors,” – external, part-time consultants on CIC programs.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
? Working closely with and supporting the work of the Senior VP for Academic Programs.
? On behalf of the SVPAP and independently, drafting email and physical
correspondence.
? Drafting, editing, and managing meeting materials.
? Maintaining and updating membership database relevant to program contacts.
? Collaborating with program leadership teams to prepare and manage detailed project schedules and budgets.
? Supporting new academic and leadership programs that come online.
? Coordinating with a range of colleagues across the organization including the conferences, communications, member engagement, and development
teams, among others.
? Coordinating CIC’s relationship with and supporting the work of part-time senior advisors.
? Performing other duties as assigned.?
The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant area and have experience working independently to complete projects. Experience working in an educational or non-profit setting is preferred. Experience, even as a volunteer or student, will be considered. The best candidate would have some database experience and some facility with budgets. The person hired would be organized and have an ability to coordinate with a lot of people. Excellent communication skills, including social media skills and a professional demeanor are essential. The ideal candidate will bring a talent for listening and building relationships. The ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse, fast-paced organization is essential.
The successful candidate will demonstrate outstanding writing skills. Effective
interpersonal communication and a highly collaborative work style are required, as are flexibility and the ability to adjust quickly in response to changing needs and circumstances. Experience working with hybrid teams is desirable, as is experience working in highly collaborative teams. Strong familiarity with commonly used office productivity and collaboration tools is required. Attention to detail and the ability to organize and track complex processes is essential.

Performing the responsibilities of this position requires the ability to see, hear, and speak; work in a normal seated position for extended periods of time; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and be able to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds; manually operate standard office equipment such as keyboards and printers; and move throughout an office or conference space CIC requires that employees be optimally protected against COVID-19 by receiving all recommended vaccinations.?
